As your Dermal Therapy is individually-prescribed it is subject to a skin consultation to confirm suitability. Please discuss your requirements with your skin specialist during your next visit and we'll be happy to advise you about the best option for your skin.
Epidermabrasion
Epidermabrasion is a preventive and corrective treatment for aging skin, refining pore size and improving the texture of your skin. It is a form of mechanical exfoliation that is less intensive than microdermabrasion and therefore more suitable to certain skin types.
Age thins out the dermis and thickens the stratum corneum layer. Epidermabrasion triggers the skin's repair mechanism. By allowing the dermis to form new collagen and elastin fibers, the skin then becomes thicker and more functional. The corneum is thinned to reveal a beautiful glowing skin. You'll see a general improvement in skin’s texture with the first treatment; however a series of 6 - 12 treatments will provide optimal skin rejuvenation benefits.
Desincrustation
Desincrustation is a form of Galvanic Therapy and provides a saponification action which breaks down and dissolves oily blockages in the skin, such as comedones, milia, blackheads and provides deep pore cleansing. This highly effective treatment opens up your pores, improves your skin’s texture, removes dulling impurities, and is an excellent treatment prior to extractions.
Direct High Frequency
Looking for a safe, gentle, non-invasive means to help clear acne congestion and provide skin rejuvenation benefits?
Spabar’s Direct High Frequency therapy is an effective treatment for acne, enlarged pores, fine lines, sagging skin, puffy eyes and dark eye circles.
These treatments can kick-start your skin rejuvenation process using the safe, gentle, oxygenating power of low level electrical current which:
- enhances blood circulation
- increases collagen and elastin production
- eliminates toxins and acne-causing bacteria
- encourages lymphatic drainage
- exfoliates dead skin cells
- and assists with improved skin care product absorption
High frequency treatments have been shown to produce an immediate, temporary lifting effect, and with continued application can provide more cumulative long-term, lasting results for those seeking an anti-aging alternative to surgery or other invasive skin rejuvenation procedures.
The application of low level electrical current also promotes a cleansing antibacterial action that helps eliminate and prevent the onset of acne. The skin is left feeling instantly energized, rosy, firm, refreshed and noticeably softer – even after just one treatment. This is an excellent treatment for congested skins and even for those occasional breakouts which can be ‘spot’ treated at a minimal cost. Many of our acne sufferers have found improvements in their complexions after only a few treatments.
Iontophoresis
Iontophoresis is a form of Galvanic therapy which promotes superior penetration of ingredients into the dermal layer of your skin, providing the deepest level of product penetration. Superb for skins that require the deepest levels of hydration and mositure replenishment, and an excelllent treatment option post your microdermabraion, peel or photo-rejuvenation treatment.
Indirect High Frequency
Also known as 'Viennese Massage' you'll find this a relaxing, soothing facial massage treatment more beneficial to certain skin conditions thana simple manual facial massage.
Indirect high frequency therapy aids product penetration further into the skin by increasing blood flow in the affected skin areas. It's perfect for massaging mature or delicate skins, providing great results without irritating the skin. The treatment has a regenerating, warming and stimulating effect on the skin with the following benefits:
- Relaxation - a sedative effect is created by the warmth generated from the treatment
- Increases circulation, bringing oxygen and nutrients to the skin, and removes waste through the lymphatic system
- Increases absorption of nourishing treatment products and stimulates oil production.
- Relieves muscular tension
- Improves skin colour, texture and tone
- Aids desquamation. Desquamation is the natural process in which skin cells are sloughed away and replaced, revealing newer, younger skin
A course of indirect high frequency treatments is particularly beneficial for:
- mature, aging or delicate skins
- assisting in the healing of recent scar tissue (4-8 months)
Lymphatic Drainage
Spabar’s Lymphatic Drainage Decongestive Therapy is an advanced skin treatment using specialised technology that can help improve the following conditions:
• Toxic build-up, edema and fluid retention (puffy eyes, facial bloating) • Migraine, Sinus, Hay fever • Certain types of Acne • Rosacea • Dull, sallow, sluggish skin • Scar tissue (old and new) • Before and after facial surgery (including cosmetic surgery)
The therapy involves the gentle gliding movement of a specialised suction hand-piece across the facial zone in specific patterns. This action activates the lymph and interstitial fluid circulation as well as stimulates the functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems, helping to move toxins and excess fluid to the lymph nodes for filtering and detoxification. A series of treatments over several weeks may be recommended depending on the skin condition, but improvements will be seen after just one treatment.
Keeping the lymph system active is extremely important - the faster we detoxify, the healthier we are. Facial lymphatic drainage helps with sinusitis and dental problems and is excellent for the skin as it improves hydration, removes local toxins, softens fine lines, and also helps heal acne by dispersing local toxins to clear congestion.
What is Lymph?
Lymph is mostly water - about 96%. It is also rich in minerals, about the same as seawater, as well as proteins and white blood cells. All together these make up the other 4%. Lymph is the clear fluid you see seeping out of a scrape or shallow cut, often before there is any blood. The bulk of our lymph fluid circulates just beneath the skin, where it is quickly available as the immune system's first line of defense and the body's first response to minor injuries.
Our bodies are about 50% water by weight. Of this, about 30% is lymph. The rest is blood plasma, interstitial fluid (in the tissues), and cerebral spinal fluid. By volume, our bodies contain about three times as much lymph as they do blood. But because lymph is clear, the vessels that carry it are difficult to see.
The Lymphatic System is referred to as our second circulatory system. It consists of a network of vessels carrying lymph (water, protein, electrolytes) from the tissue fluids to the bloodstream. At intervals along the length on these lymphatic vessels are groups of nodes. The node function is to filter lymph through the action of scavenging white blood cells and preventing foreign particles form entering the bloodstream. The structures of this system help to provide immunity, which means resistance to infection and disease.
What is the Importance of Lymph Drainage for good skin health?
As our lymphatic system is primarily responsible for carrying disease-fighting material to cells, when the lymphatic system is blocked, we cannot fully defend attacks by virus, fungi, and bacteria.
Many immune processes occur in the lymph nodes. If these pathways become congested, blocked, damaged or severed, then fluids can build up in the connective tissue leading to edema and swelling. This can lead to abnormalities in the cells and tissues. If there are any abnormalities in the tissues, then it is the role of the lymphatic system to transport the damaged cells, inflammatory products and toxins away from the area. The quicker this happens, the faster recovery will be.
This is where Spabar’s Lymphatic Drainage can make a difference. The gentle technique enhances and stimulates the lymphatic system to drain stagnant fluids, detoxify, regenerate tissues, and filter out toxins and foreign substances.
Sonophoresis
Sonophoresis is a process that exponentially increases the absorption of semisolid topical compounds (transdermal delivery) into the epidermis and dermis. Ultra sound vibration allows for a deeper transdermal penetration of product. The deep vitamin infusion assists in lightening pigmentation and promotes the production of collagen which smoothes the skin and diminishes the appearance of fine lines.
Sonophoresis is widely used in hospitals to deliver drugs through the skin, and is super-effective at delivering beneficial ingredients to where your skin needs them most.
