Microdermabrasion is an effective way to gently exfoliate the outermost layer of your skin (stratum corneum) through combining a pressured spray of fine mineral crystals and gentle vacuum suction to remove the epidermis, revealing your newer, younger skin beneath. Treatments can be performed on the face, decolletage and back and require a skin consultation to confirm suitability.

Immediately following your microdermabrasion treatment your skin will feel smoother and have improved texture. This effect will last for several weeks whilst your skin develops a new stratum corneum layer.

We may recommend a series of 3 or 6 treatments at intervals of 2-4 weeks apart to revitalize dull skin, even out skin tone and texture, and minimise fine lines.

What should I do before my treatment?

No pre-medication or preparation is required, but there are some contra-indications including use of Retinol-based products. A skin consultation is conducted before your treatment and will allow your therapist to assess the suitability of this treatment for you. It's best to avoid sunbathing, waxing and peel treatments 72 hours before your microdermabrasion procedure.

How Long Does a Spabar Microdermabrasion Procedure Take?

Spabar offers several microdermabrasion treatment options, varying in duration. The procedure may take between 30 - 45 minutes, depending on the area to be treated.

What Areas Can I Have Treated?

The most commonly-requested treatment area is the face. It's also effective for treating the decolletage and upper back.

What Happens After My Treatment?

No recovery time is required. Some skin pinkness may be experienced, but this generally disappears after a few hours.

For the first 24 hours, avoid the sun, and any other forms of exfoliation as these can irritate the area. During the first 24 hours after your treatment your skin may feel a little dry, similar to slight windburn or sunburn. Avoid sun exposure for the next 7 days or wear a quality SPF30+ sunscreen in between your treatments, and follow your post-care instructions.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Everyone is different, and during your consultation you will be given the best assessment and advice about your options.

After just one of Spabar's microdermabrasion treatments your skin will feel smoother and softer. Generally, 3-6 treatments are required 2-4 weeks apart to provide the best results, ideally followed by one treatment every 3 months as a maintenance treatment.
